EBMUD Education Resources

EBMUD runs free fifth-grade field trips to East Bay watersheds and water treatment facilities, plus free high school tours of a wastewater treatment plant, backed by student and teacher workbooks available in English and Spanish for every grade. At least half of EBMUD's field trips are reserved for Title 1 schools, with transportation funding available to remove cost as a barrier.

Our take

The program covers drinking-water treatment through the fifth-grade trip and wastewater treatment through the high school tour, and EBMUD backs its Title 1 field-trip priority with transportation funding. Programs are limited to EBMUD's East Bay service area in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, and registration is required well ahead of a visit.
