The Groundwater Foundation
The Groundwater Foundation publishes four structured lesson sets covering groundwater basics, the water cycle, aquifers, and pollution, each pairing a short video or reading with worksheets, coloring sheets, and a hands-on build like an edible aquifer or an aquifer-in-a-cup model. The site treats groundwater, rather than surface water, as its main subject.

What you will find there
- Four topic sets: Groundwater Basics, The Water Cycle, Aquifer, and Pollution
- Age-banded water-cycle videos for K-3, grades 4-8, and middle/high school
- Hands-on builds, including an edible aquifer and an aquifer-in-a-cup model using gravel, sand, and clay
- Worksheets, word searches, crosswords, and coloring sheets for each topic
- A pollution unit covering nitrates, pharmaceuticals, PFAS, and wastewater contamination
Our take
Groundwater often receives limited textbook coverage, and these lessons address it with hands-on models as well as reading. The four lesson sets are fairly short, so expect to supplement them rather than build a full unit around them alone.
