Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
LADWP Educational Programs
LADWP pairs classroom lessons and detailed lesson plans for grades 4-12 with a regional Science Bowl competition, an Adopt-A-School volunteer program, and facility tours run in partnership with Discovery Cube Los Angeles. Because LADWP supplies both water and electricity, its materials teach the two utilities together rather than treating water in isolation.

Our take
LADWP teaches water and electricity together, which matches how Los Angeles manages both through one department, and the Science Bowl gives students a STEM competition tied to the utility. Facility tours were on hold as of this review, and bus sponsorship is limited to qualifying local schools, with LAUSD funds fully committed for the 2026-27 school year.
