Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE)
Michigan EGLE Classroom
Michigan EGLE Classroom is the state environmental agency's education hub, offering a Resource Lending Station that lends EnviroScape models, a Sand and Gravel Simulator, and H2O Q water-quality backpacks for pickup at EGLE district offices and two partner sites, alongside the MEECS curriculum, seven Michigan-specific units for grades 3 through 12 that teach the state's economy and environment through data-based science and social-studies lessons. Its Freshwater Literacy and Stewardship Initiative, launched in 2019, adds a toolkit built specifically around the Great Lakes and Michigan watersheds.

Our take
Borrowing physical monitoring backpacks and watershed models from a nearby EGLE office is a hands-on offering, and the Great Lakes framing gives Michigan teachers regional content to build on. The Fellowship and lending station both have limited annual capacity, and loans are limited to two models for up to three weeks, so a teacher planning around them should apply or reserve equipment well ahead of the unit.
