New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program
The AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program, run through the state Department of Environmental Protection, has placed a trained Ambassador in each of New Jersey's 20 watershed management areas for more than two decades, and each Ambassador delivers free classroom presentations on topics such as the water cycle, macroinvertebrates, and the Enviroscape pollution model. Beyond the classroom, Ambassadors also lead rain barrel workshops and tree plantings tied to the same watershed curriculum.

What you will find there
- Free classroom presentations on the water cycle, watersheds, and water conservation
- Enviroscape pollution-model demonstrations delivered in person by a local Ambassador
- Macroinvertebrate activities connecting classroom lessons to stream health
- Rain barrel workshops and tree-planting events tied to the same curriculum
- One Ambassador assigned to each of New Jersey's 20 watershed management areas
Our take
Having one Ambassador per watershed management area means a presentation is genuinely local to a school's own stream system rather than a generic state overview, and the program addresses New Jersey's climate-change curriculum standards directly. The program's own pages do not publish set grade-level guidance, so confirm grade fit when booking with the Ambassador for a school's area.
