Tucson Water — Public Education and Outreach

Tucson Water funds Arizona Project WET and the Environmental Education Exchange to deliver groundwater flow model presentations for middle and high school students and water-education field days for 4th graders in every school district in its service area. Since 2006, with Tucson Water's support, Arizona Project WET has reached more than 350,000 students and 6,000 teachers in the service area with STEM-based water education.

Our take

Funding Arizona Project WET rather than building a separate education office has let Tucson Water reach more than 350,000 students since 2006. The city's own page functions mostly as a directory of partner organizations rather than self-contained lesson materials, so most bookings route through Arizona Project WET or the Environmental Education Exchange rather than Tucson Water directly.
