5.MD.A.1 Convert measurement units and solve multi-step problems

Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.

Why water teaches this standard well

Students convert a rainfall total from centimeters to meters, or a lab volume from milliliters to liters, then use that converted value inside a larger multi-step water-budget problem. Chaining a unit conversion into a bigger calculation is the exact scaffold for the multi-step conversion chains operators use on certification exams.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
