7.SP.A.2 Draw inferences from random samples

Use data from a random sample to draw inferences about a population with an unknown characteristic of interest, generating multiple samples to gauge the variation in estimates.

Why water teaches this standard well

Students use random water-quality samples drawn from several points on a river to estimate a contaminant level for the whole watershed, then compare multiple simulated samples to see how much the estimate varies. This is the statistical backbone of real river and drinking-water monitoring programs.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
