K-ESS3-3 Communicate solutions to reduce human impact on land, water, and air

Communicate solutions that will reduce the impact of humans on the land, water, air, and/or other living things in the local environment.

Clarification statement: Examples of human impact on the land could include cutting trees to produce paper and using resources to produce bottles. Examples of solutions could include reusing paper and recycling cans and bottles.

Why water teaches this standard well

Water is named directly in this performance expectation, and water conservation is the easiest solution for kindergartners to act on: turning off the tap while brushing, catching rain for classroom plants, keeping litter out of storm drains. Conservation posters and pledges let students communicate a real solution to a real local impact.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , including its clarification statement , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
