W.8.7 Short research projects

Conduct short research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question), drawing on several sources and generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple avenues of exploration.

Why water teaches this standard well

Eighth graders pose a self-generated question about water, such as how their state decides who gets river water in a drought, and pursue it across several sources and multiple avenues of exploration. Water policy questions rarely have one-source answers, which is precisely the point.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
