3.MD.A.2 Measure and solve problems with liquid volume and mass

Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.

Why water teaches this standard well

This is the classroom water-measurement standard: students pour water into a graduated cylinder marked in liters for a simple water-quality test, then add or subtract volumes across several samples. Reading a beaker's measurement scale here is the direct precursor to reading a flow meter or dosing tank as an adult.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
