4.MD.A.2 Solve multistep measurement and money word problems

Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit.

Why water teaches this standard well

Students work through a family's monthly water bill, combining a flat fee in dollars with a per-gallon charge given in tenths, to find the total amount owed. Blending money, decimals, and volume in one problem mirrors exactly how a real water bill is calculated.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
