RI.4.1 Explaining and inferring with details and examples

Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.

Why water teaches this standard well

Fourth graders explain what a water passage says and draw inferences from it using details and examples, such as working out why a town built its water tower on a hill. Texts about water systems embed cause-and-effect details that support genuine inference.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
