K.CC.B.5 Count objects arranged in lines, arrays, and circles

Count to answer 'how many?' questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.

Why water teaches this standard well

Students count water bottles lined up on a cafeteria shelf, ice cubes scattered on a tray, or raindrops arranged in a circle on a worksheet, then count out a requested number of cups for a watering station. Practicing all three arrangements builds flexible counting that transfers to any real container of water-related objects.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
