K.CC.C.6 Compare groups as greater than, less than, or equal

Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.

Why water teaches this standard well

Students match up drawings of raindrops in two clouds, or cups poured into two buckets, to decide which group has more, fewer, or the same amount. This greater-than/less-than reasoning is the earliest form of the comparisons students will later make between two households' or two towns' water use.

Materials tagged with this code are written to the full standard , and each carries a written note explaining the alignment. See how we review materials.
